Nomination open for Abu Dhabi Awards 2007

08 Sep, 2007

The nomination period for the Abu Dhabi Awards 2007 officially opens tomorrow, September 9, with organisers hoping for the same overwhelming response received to last year’s Awards, as they once again invite residents of the Emirate to recognise and honour the good deeds of others.

Through the commitment of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, to preserve the legacy of our Nation’s late father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Executive Council, the Abu Dhabi Awards recognize and celebrate those who have demonstrated exemplary acts of devotion, compassion and generosity in building a greater sense of community and social welfare within the Emirate.

2007 marks the third year of the prestigious Awards. Importantly, all that is required is the completion of a simple nomination form - which takes a few minutes to fill out. The form can be registered in one of the following ways:

  • At any of the 26 manned nomination stations located in popular areas across the Emirate, with volunteers from Takatof on hand to answer any questions (see attached list)
  • At any of the 100 collection boxes located across the Emirate (see attached list)
  • Stopping a roving nomination station when you see it – look out for the Abu Dhabi Awards smart cars
  • Using one of the many nomination forms being delivered to homes across the Emirate. This can be returned by post, fax or by placing them in collection boxes at the nomination stations
  • Using one of the many nomination forms inserted in Etisalat bills across the Emirate. This can be returned by post, fax or by placing them in collection boxes at the nomination stations
  • Registering your nomination on line at www.abudhabiawards.ae
  • Downloading your nomination form from www.abudhabiawards.ae and faxing it to 800 33300 or posting it to PO Box 44442, Abu Dhabi

The nomination period will run from 9 September to 7 October 2007, and organisers are hoping to exceed the amazing response received last year, when more than 50,000 nominations were collected.

The message from the organizers this year is that it’s the quality of the nomination that counts and not the number of nominations a person receives. In order to win a person only needs one nomination that demonstrates a truly significant act.

An advertising campaign for the Abu Dhabi Awards 2007 will run in conjunction with the nomination period and it is encouraging residents to ‘let your voice speak of their actions’ and honour those whose goodness knows no limits.

The winning individuals will be announced at a special Awards ceremony to be held at the Emirates Palace in December 2007 and televised by Abu Dhabi Television.
